Asian Markets Trade Higher On Wall Street Cues, Recovery Hopes Daily Markets
(RTTNews) - Asian stock markets are trading in positive territory on Wednesday with the overnight firm close on Wall Street and hopes of a sustained economic growth prompting investors to indulge in some hectic buying in blue chip stocks. Though most of the markets in the region have come off the day’s highs, the mood remains fairly positive at present.
In the Australian market, energy, materials and financial stocks are trading notably higher. The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index is currently trading at 4,962, up 36.2 points or 0.7% over its previous close. The broader All Ordinaries index is up 36.5 points or 0.7% at 4,986.
In the banking space, ANZ Bank is up 0.6%, Commonwealth Bank of Australia is gaining about 1.2% and Westpac Banking Corporation is trading higher by 1.1%, while National Australia Bank is in negative territory with a loss of 0.6%.
Among top miners, Rio Tinto and Newcrest Mining are up 0.6% and 1.2% respectively, while BHP Billiton is trading slightly up over its previous closing price.
